Ochanomizu University held its three-day undergraduate open campus event on July 14, 15, and 16. The event drew over 6,000 examinees and parents who braved the heat to visit the campus and learn more about the school.
The general information session included an address from President Sawako Hanyu, who highlighted the university's many exciting initiatives and delivered a message to all examinees, a presentation from Educational Affairs Board Director Hiroaki Mimizuka, who explained various entrance examination systems, the university's distinctive "Multiple Program Elective Course System" and "Liberal Arts Education," and scholarship programs, as well as student housing options. Faculty heads concluded the session with riveting profiles of their respective faculties and departments.
After the general information session, Ochanomizu University students clad in pink T-shirts guided guests through multifaceted programs that featured simulated classes in various departments, divisions, and courses, individual consultation sessions, and laboratory tours. The programs proved to be hugely successful, with guests taking active part in learning more about what the university has to offer.
Ochanomizu University plans to hold another open campus event next academic year. Once the details are finalized, organizers will post event information on the university website.
